The inspiration for Kirsteen's work usually comes from nature and growing forms. She loves plant, pod and leaf shapes; the way grasses sway in a breeze; the way trees bend to a prevailing wind. All these things she has tried to capture in her sculpture.
Pieces are made from stoneware clays of different textures and colours. They are usually unglazed and are often combined with metal or wood.
She also makes raku fired pieces and loves the drama and the unexpected results that can be achieved. She is always on the hunt for new and exciting ways of firing clay.
She teaches a couple of pottery classes at Artworks MK and also Raku workshops at Westbury Farm from spring to autumn.
